Slice of SciFi

Slice of SciFi and its companion Voicemail Show are fan favorites, and appeal to SF media geeks of all ages.

The funny, irreverent but always relevent discussion from show hosts Michael R. Mennenga, Summer Brooks, Brian Brown, and Sam Roberts always make for lively entertainment. Interviews with today’s top stars and genre production professionals, such as Ira Steven Behr, Walter Koenig, Jim Butcher, Samuel L. Jackson, Katee Sackhoff and an array of other top names in show business, are always on the cutting edge and timely.

The Slice of SciFi website doubles as an online news magazine (ezine). Michael Hickerson manages a team of reporters dedicated to bringing fans the latest news and developments in SF television and film, in science, technology, space exploration, and more. The shows themselves focus on featured news from that week, plus interviews with actors, producers, directors and others who create the shows we love to watch and the technology that we marvel at.

Slice of SciFi made the jump to broadcast, with a home on XM Satellite Radio, Channel 163 (Sonic Theater) in 2005, bringing the show to a broad new fan base. With the merger of XM with Sirius Satellite Radio in 2007, Slice of SciFi is beam to millions of listeners each week.

Slice of Scifi team is awesome! I first heard ya’ll on XM radio about 4 or 5 years. The show and voicemail show is entertaining and educational. I guess you could say before listening to the show I had a mild case of scifi love but since listening I’ve watched movies and tv shows I probably wouldnt have watched before. Thanks gang for the hours of entertainment:)

One review!!??!! Where are the loyal listeners?

Slice of SciFi (and the Slice of SciFi Voicemail) are the first shows I listen to at the beginning of my work week (I download all the podcasts I listen to on Sunday nights). The few times they miss a show, or have a repeat, it feels as if the universe is a little darker, more menacing . . . downright unfriendly.

These are people who obviously love what they do, have fun doing it, and are deep into the genre and all things related. Information, speculation, opinions, and generous doses of humor and snark all mix to make my Monday commutes a breeze.

Don’t try it unless you have room in your listening schedule, otherwise you’ll be stressed out trying to decide what stuff to dump to make room for it.

The Slice of Sci-Fi is a jovial look at the cross generational television, literature and film mediums that span science fiction story telling. The discussions range from pop culture criticism to endearing fanboy-isms that engage the listener to interact as one would with friends. For anyone who enjoys any facet of the science fiction genres this show is fun, real, and personable. Slice of Sci-Fi gets two big thumbs up from me, and I’m usually pretty darn cynical.
