Erthbound Entertainment produces the ultimate TV show to watch… while driving!

Studio City, CA – The pilot episode of a new series for the SPEED Network debuts this week hosted by Pulitzer Prize winning automotive columnist Dan Neil, who examines the phenomenon of “distracted driving”.

The series, titled “Auto Addiction” is produced by Jeffrey Willerth, President of Erthbound Entertainment, Inc. whose life-long affection for all things automotive is at the heart of this humorous effort to define car culture today. The same love affair with cars that powers the Carology Podcast is the fueling force behind this new TV Series.

When asked about creating the pilot episode, Willerth said “distracted driving was an obvious subject choice for the premiere episode because bad habits and lack of concentration while driving have reached epidemic scale and are quickly becoming the norm for acceptable driving skill. We’re evolving into a society of motoring morons, easily distracted by palm-size technology and social networking.” He adds, “Imagine the headlines once somebody pilots their car 150 miles past Minneapolis because they were fussing with their laptops!”

“Auto Addiction” hits the SPEED HD airwaves on Monday, December 7th at 8:30pm Eastern. Erthbound Entertainment’s synopsis to describe the first episode states;

It’s wrong, ridiculous and so dangerous, yet it happens daily on America’s highways… People driving while eating, reading, shaving, yakking on the phone, applying makeup, brushing teeth, changing clothes, using computers, choosing CDs, watching TV and even having sex. Driving distracted is driving reckless and sometimes even “wreck full”.
Driving distracted has become a full-contact sport and is one of the fastest growing statistics on the cause of car accidents. Learn how new innovations designed to help distracted drivers maintain focus, might inadvertently contribute to our lackadaisical and leisurely driving habits. What really happens to our minds and bodies when we drive distracted? We’ll use the latest medical equipment to monitor Dan Neil’s brainwaves and physiology to find out how he reacts to absurd and hilarious distractions while driving a high performance machine on a grueling test track.

Award-winning Humorist Strikes a Chord with Fans

Clearfield, Utah – Awarding-winning author and humorist Kevin Cummings’ new book “Happily Domesticated” is based on writing that has his fans saying, “It’s like he’s watching my life.”

One Tree Hill enthusiasts get their fix with social media

I’m being followed on Twitter by several One Tree Hill bloggers and fans. I’m assuming it’s because I live in Wilmington, work for the StarNews and once wrote an article about One Tree Hill former star Hilarie Burton’s production company. Many of the fans also follow some of the well-established Twitter accounts and blogs devoted to dishing out the latest news and gossip about the locally filmed CW television show. After reading some of the blogs and Twitter posts, I’m not sure if these fans would survive without their social media fix.

I bet these fans thank Denise Gideon every day. She’s the host of the official podcast for One Tree Hill, and she also maintains a Twitter account with links to her podcast. Today, for example, she put word out on Twitter about a podcast featuring an interview with actress Amanda Schull, who plays the mysterious character “Sarah.” On the podcast, Denise interviews Sarah about the character and last night’s episode. They talk about filming in Wilmington and about the “road block” the show almost hit with filming a scene featuring cast members jumping off a bridge in Wrightsville Beach.

Buffy Between the Lines, the award-winning fan audio drama based on Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was featured in the student and community newspaper – Arthur. The article, focusing on the future of audio content (radio, audio dramas and audio books) highlights Buffy Between the Lines as a prime example of the resurgence of audio dramas.

Author James Kerr was fascinated with the amount of free content available because of podcasting. Kerr called Buffy Between the Lines, “a bizarrely popular multi-season (with 26 episodes each season, emulating television) volunteer-based fanfiction podcast out of California…” Buffy Between the Lines currently has a cast/crew base of 200 volunteers from all over the United States and an additional 7 international countries.

The article also discusses the problems with copyright, “The very creative people behind projects like Buffy Between the Lines will not stop being creative just because they don’t have an outlet within someone else’s fictional framework. They will dedicate their talents to original material, and no one can stop originality.”

Transformed Podcast Featured by Dave Ferguson

Transformed received a great mention on the recent interview done with Dave Ferguson. Dave is the Lead Pastor of Community Christian Church (www.communitychristian.org), an innovative multi‐site, missional community that is passionate about “helping people find their way back to God.”

CCC has grown from Dave, his wife and four friends to over 5000 every weekend meeting at eleven locations. CCC empowers over 600 volunteer leaders to oversee difference‐making ministry throughout Chicago and was recently recognized as one of the most influential churches in America.

Dave featured the Transformed interview on his website by saying, “Dr. Matthew Lee Smith has received numerous acknowledgments for his contributions and podcasts at Eagles in Leadership. Tuning in to SciFi TV (TIST) is where you will find Wendy, Kevin and Brent talking about many of the SciFi and genre shows on TV. Think of us as the viewer’s digest, tour guides or sherpas for the genre rather than critics. We’ll always share our honest opinions, but we plan to keep things fun. Since everyone has a different viewing pace we’ll structure our episodes into segments.

The Water Cooler segment is where we have general non-spoilery discussions about different things going on in the genre TV world and other topics that we think you’ll find interesting.

The Back Porch is where we kick back and go into detail about certain shows or topics. This segment could be about any show, any episode or any plot line. We’ll be sure to tell you which shows we discuss in the show notes on our blog and also in the comments on the MP3 file. You can choose to skip that segment in case you’re not caught up on that TV show quite yet.

We also release a Tuner Minute every week where one member of the crew comments on whatever is on their mind. We invite you to share your thoughts on the subject in the forum or by dropping us a voicemail.

And, finally, we also have occasional Blast From The Past segments where we look at good shows that may no longer be running on TV but you can find on DVD, NetFlix, iTunes or other sources.

FPM’s Director of Programming, Brian Brown, announces that an agreement has been signed with Travis Prinzi, creator of “The Hog’s Head Pubcast”. This brilliant series covers all things Harry Potter. The Hog’s Head PubCast is a podcast of intelligent discussion on the Harry Potter series, and it has a three-year track record of quality shows.

While mostly a solo endeavor at first, it now incorporates regular interviews and discussions with a variety of guests – from published scholars like John Granger to creative members of the fan community who write parody plays on Harry Potter. Prinizi says, “I’m also very flexible with the show, and have ideas for expanding and adjusting in the future, including the return of news segments and more guests.”

The Pub Songs Podcast is a personal podcast of Marc Gunn. It opens with some Irish folk music, Scottish songs, American folk music that you may hear in pubs, plus, folk song lyrics and news. It also features poetry, rants, and raves and some of the favorite non-Celtic bands of Marc Gunn.

Marc Gunn is an accomplished professional performer, songwriter, and producer who brings a powerful and expressive voice to Celtic music. He is accomplished on an unusual instrument – the autoharp – and has expanded his traditional work in Irish and Scottish music to fuse the roots of Celtic with blues, jazz and folk music. Marc Gunn delivers exciting live shows as well as compelling and original recordings. Gunn has 12 solo albums to his credit to date.

Marc Gunn’s early background in folk and rock music led him to discover the roots of both genres in Celtic music. He worked for many years at Renaissance festivals and events across the country as lead vocalist of the Brobdingnagian Bards. Marc Gunn headlined a “Lord of the Rings” Oscar night party, and is a regular at Dragon*Con, the world’s largest fantasy and science fiction convention. Recent work includes parody albums setting cat-inspired lyrics to traditional Irish music, and adaptations of traditional Celtic music to contemporary rhythms and forms.
